An overview of the NTL range, brought to you by Michael Melbourne - RG acoustic guitar specialist
NTL 20 The CORT NTL 20 is a superb guitar built with finger pickers in mind. In the NTL 20 we get a choice wood Solid Spruce top with a Solid Mahogany back, laminate Mahogany sides for structural integrity and a one piece Mahogany neck right through to headstock. It has a Jumbo type styling, with a narrow waist giving the guitar a most striking and unusual appearance; nothing comes close to it on looks in the market at the moment. The aim with the NTL 20's design was to allow a balanced tonal quality from the woods. The bass response from the large sound board is huge, the mid range full, and with the top quality Solid Spruce top you get enhanced trebles. Put this together with the Solid Mahogany back and you have a tonal winner
.and at only £299.00 it is a natural upgrade from the Tanglewood TW15. The bridge plate also has quite a radical design. It extends beyond normal bridge shape allowing a larger contact with the sound board
thus more volume and more tone. Match this with retro looking Grover Rotomatic tuners, Elixer strings from factory, and you have got a guitar that for its price starts to put some of the more costly guitars to shame. Some people who have tried £800 to £1000 guitars prefer the NTL20's tone and feel
..you don't have to hurt your pocket to get a great guitar. The NTL 20 is also available as an electro acoustic in the NTL 20F for £399.00. It has Fishman Classic4 Sonicore pick up fitted and retains all the design and qualities of the NTL 20. NTL50 Now imagine all of the above
but put into the equation Rosewood back and sides, bone saddle and nut
.. and you have the £399.00 priced NTL50. The sound doesn't jump out as immediately as from the NTL 20; but as with most Rosewood guitars, the tone is really full in the bass. It may need to to be played a bit harder to get the woods moving, but for those of us who really like to dig in with their playing this is an ideal guitar. The guitar really responds to a solid picking technique and with the full and rich bass, it still remains crisp in the mid range and trebles. The finish on both of these guitars is second to none. They each have a high gloss finish, bound fingerboard and headstock, and with the Grover tuners, make them look and feel as if they were both much more expensive. NTL CUSTOM For those of you who want that something extra then the NTL CUSTOM with Solid Englemann Spruce top, Solid Rosewood back and sides, Ebony fingerboard, and Ebony bridge are in for something special. This guitar takes the NTL series right up there. It also features Flame Maple binding on body, fingerboard and headstock and a tasteful abalone inlaid soundhole rosette. Retaining all of the styling and design features of the NTL 20 and 50, this guitar is a must; and at £799.00 including dedicated hardcase, is a absolute bargain
