Many people come
into our shop requesting an acoustic guitar, - not too expensive but they
"want it to be reasonable", "about £150 -£200".
My feelings here are as follows.
If the above comment really means "no more than £150", I would
suggest that they save some money and go for a model in the Tanglewood range
called a TW28SNQ (£129). The problem is, there is not a huge choice worth
considering from £130 - £200 that is any better in build quality,
tone etc. until you make alittle jump up in price to £200.
So what can I say about this model and why do I sing its praises so highly?
Build quality - Have you ever looked inside an acoustic? I think you should. To
me, it represents the "pride" of the company who are building the
guitars. Tanglewoods are ALWAYS clean - no glue marks, no rough edges, even the
joins are always very tight. I am not the technician but this tidy interior is
a very rare sight to see when looking at other manufacturers instruments.
As far as the exterior goes, you have a solid spruce top, quality machine heads
and a very nice satin feel to the guitar which I always prefer over high gloss
(which can look very cheap if not applied correctly).
We will always continue to sell more Fender & Yamaha acoustics mail order
(Brand names sell guitars) but through the shop we will sell 20-1 Tanglewood
acoustics at this price range.
